About

Currently I am working at the Data Assimilation Research Centre, University of Reading, UK, on an ERC project, called CUNDA (Causal relations Using Nonlinear Data Assimilation) led by Prof Peter Jan Van Leeuwen.

The project aims the development of tools for evaluation of causal relationships through Bayesian inference and its application for the understanding of the coupling between the wind-driven and thermohaline circulation, south of South Africa at the junction of the Indian, Atlantic, and Southern Ocean.

I am Professor in the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste in Argentina on a long-term leave of absence, where I lead the Atmospheric Science Research Group (GICA) and I am head of the Northeastern computing center (CECONEA) . I am also third-level research scientist at the National Research Council (CONICET) .

I did a coupled of postdocs. One at the University of Reading, UK (2001-2004) working with Prof John Thuburn on gravity wave drag estimation with variational data assimilation. The second one with Prof Ted Shepherd and Saroja Polavarapu in the Department of Physics at the University of Toronto (Canada) on parameter estimation with a Monte Carlo technique (2008-2009).

I obtained my PhD in Physics in FaMAF Universidad Nacional de Cordoba (Advisor Giorgio Caranti), Argentina and the B.S. in Physics also in FaMAF.

I was born in San Rafael (Mendoza), and attended high school at the Colegio San Rafael (Maristas). Concerning my out of work life, I enjoy running in the countryside and gardening.
